One of my long-time favorite groups, Anything Box, is releasing a new (?) collection of songs called 19. It’s from twenty years ago in the late 80s, and serves as a snapshot/demo of their earliest music-making. It’s rough in all of its glorious melancholy synth-pop 80s sound, but considering the fact that it was recorded live during a one day home studio session onto cassette tape, it’s a very nice time capsule piece. Not only for the band, but for that era in music.
Below is a preview for the record, complete with a lot of Claude’s artwork. The website, at AnythingBox-Nineteen.com contains even more artwork and a full streaming version of the record, so have a look if you’re wanting to relive your days of yore putting on black eyeliner, baggy clothes and swaying back and forth to electronic pop.
