Happy Birthday, Katie!

I would like to send out a special birthday shout-out to Katie Couric. Not only is she a spry and foxy-looking lady for her age (which is 22, Katie, and I still believe that), but we share the same birthday.

I just found this out, thanks to the magic elves at Google. I put in a search request and those little people hopped to work, doing some amazing flipping through the card catalogs at their local library until they were able to answer my queries. They did not die in vain (as we know the weaker ones of the herd were trampled by some over-zealous big shots trying to meet their “correct answer” quotas for the day).

You know, we have a small but noble group of hipsters sharing a birthday today. If Katie were here, we’d be enjoying a nice mimosa over our brunch and commenting on just that. Here are a few:

Alan Napier – He’s always been my favorite celeb to throw out there in a list of birthday buddies. He was an actor, best known for playing Alfred the butler on the original Batman series. But he was also in a movie riffed by the MST3K crew, which makes him super awesome.

Kenny Loggins – This reminds me that I should, at some point today, put on my record of the Top Gun soundtrack. I’ll do this before leaving the house to carefully merge on to the highway to the Danger Zone (which is I-65).

Millard Filmore – Millard Filmore was our 13th president. So show some respect! According to Wikipedia (whose magic elves are forever locked in an epic battle against their arch-nemesi at Google), Filmore was the last person from the Whig Party to hold that office. That’s also super awesome.

Nicolas Cage – (sigh…)
Nic, in the spirit of birthday solidarity, I just want to let you know that I forgive you for a lot of the movies you’ve made. Ghost Rider? Hey, I know you have to feed your family. Amos & Andrew? Let’s just forget about that one and grab a beer.

Dustin Diamond – Screech! I share a birthday with f***ing Screech! Rawkfist!

David Caruso – I have never seen an episode of CSI, but I’m sure David is a great guy.
