Awesomeness

August 23rd, 2008

One of the many tasks on my home to-do list is to finally go through this box of photos in my closet and figure out which ones should be kept and which ones are just taking up space. They are from my entire life, from a chubby birth up until the last day that I ever used an actual film camera. Well, today I finally started…

And oh what treasures await. I’m sure I’ve seen these photos before, but seriously I have no memory of ever seeing the one below. Which is a shame, because it might just be the most awesome photo of me ever taken. In history. Ever.

It was sealed in an envelope in amongst some newspaper clippings. It has no writing on the back (which means my Mom must not have ever seen this picture either), but judging from the photography studio date, it must have been kindergarten, or preschool, or one of the other “just warming up” years.

For those of you unsure, I am the stud in the middle of the front row. Notice the amazing floods that I’m rocking. And once you’ve marveled at that, take special notice of the Flying Nun collar on my western shirt. High class fashion has always been one of my trademarks.

This one is a keeper.

Uncounted

August 17th, 2008

A couple of days ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing local filmmaker David Earnhardt about his new documentary, Uncounted: The New Math of American Elections. It was an interesting and enjoyable conversation, and the review is now posted on Blogcritics.org.

The trailer for the film is below, and is a good introduction to the subjects covered.

Someone Else’s List

August 8th, 2008

While shopping at the grocery store yesterday, I noticed that a previous shopper had left their grocery list in the basket I had picked up. Their list was pink and precise, and much more interesting than mine.

If anyone knows what “Horf ‘N Horf” is, please let me know. I’d love to try it. I suspect it is a cream substitute made from horse hooves.
